Making her first appearance as Saturday Night Live ’s musical guest since 2011, Cher performed two songs from her 2023 Christmas album titled, simply, Christmas. She was flanked by backup dancers for “DJ Play a Christmas Song” and covered Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run.”
Bowen Yang concluded his seven-year run as an SNL cast member with an emotional final sketch that featured Grande and Cher. Starring as a Delta One Lounge employee working his final shift, Yang left viewers crying with his heartfelt words spoken while appearing to hold back tears.
Ariana Grande made her third appearance as a host for Saturday Night Live on December 20, an episode that also bid farewell to cast member Bowen Yang. Yang and Grande are good friends who have also worked together on the set of Wicked, so the evening provided plenty of laughs as well as poignant moments.

Cher returned to "Saturday Night Live" as musical guest on Dec. 20, appearing on the final 2025 episode hosted by Ariana Grande.
The former Nickelodeon star and Broadway actress made a cameo in the "He-Man and Lion-O" sketch. Pratt and Season 40 cast member Taran Killam played the titular action figures, while then 21-year-old Grande wielded a giant sword (in an even bigger wig) as She-Ra.
