The entertainment industry was stunned when CBS announced in July that the liberal-leaning "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" would end in 2026.

Breaking into a Trump impression, Colbert joked, “OK, but what if—and hear me out here—what if this is the end of the road for you and you’ve wriggled out of everything else, but for some reason this is the one they won’t let go of, no matter how many East Wings you tear down ?"

"Wow. I gotta say, if my company's got that kind of green, I'm sure they can afford to uncancel one of their best shows," the host said.

Colbert also noted that it’s “a really big deal for networks to just hand over their primetime slots on such short notice.” He referenced CBS, in particular, explaining that the three-hour season finale of Survivor Season 49 was interrupted because of Trump.
